I don’t claim to be musical, but I do find myself often able to write poems, and song lyrics. The following song was written in October 2024 in memory of my child lost to abortion.
In shadows of fear, my heart did cry
Choking in shadows, a choice to deny
Stolen from my womb by fear’s cruel hand
The wicked deception of choices unplanned
I pleaded and begged as you slipped away,
I bargained and cried, I prayed you could stay
They lied and they pressed, and the pill was bitter,
Yet I bore the guilt, and the pain of that day.
From the shadows and shame I found forgiveness
The choice of your passing I did confess
Though fear and cruelty took you away
With my savior, my Jesus, safely you’ll stay.
I bled and and I lost, and I threw you away
Without colors or coats, so easy to betray.
They promised that I would feel waves of relief
But I stumbled away covered in blood and in grief.
I fought to find purpose, to hide my shame
But was lost in the darkness, for I was to blame.
But Jesus, he saw me, and whispered His love,
And I clung to his grace, and his hope from above.
From the shadows and shame I found forgiveness
The choice of your passing I did confess
Though fear and cruelty took you away
With my savior, my Jesus, safely you’ll stay.
My child, my son, with courage I claimed you.
With love and with sorrow, my child I named you.
I opened the wound of your death to my Father,
And openly wept and sought Jesus at the altar
Your loss, a wound that time cannot mend
Nearly destroyed me, this heart to rend
But fear is cast out, I scarce can recall,
For the truth set me free, love above all.
From the shadows and shame I found forgiveness
The choice of your passing I did confess
Though fear and cruelty took you away
With my savior, my Jesus, safely you’ll stay.
Let my Fiat be Yes! Whenever they ask me,
To speak of loves light, a truth to unmask me
Beauty from ashes, this story’s not done,
For I’ve given my life to Gods only Son.
